In this Copper plate one can see the words "ShreeRasthu" and the Vaishnava chant: "Shrimathe Ramaanujaya Namaha" Also notice the Lords symbol Shanka and Chakra on either side of the plate. What struggle they might have gone through to present mankind this treasure! Glory to Sri Annamachary, Glory to the people who preserved His songs for future generations.

Sri Annamacharya Raagi Rekulu [Copper Plates]

Some of Sri Annamacharya Raagi Rekulu can be seen here. The 'Pallavis' of the songs are listed before each song. You can see the songs: "Shobaname Shobaname" in 'Vasantham' Pallavi at the start of one of these raagi rekulu. Next song on the same plate is in 'Shankarabaranam' Pallavi. Read the plates closely - the clarity is very good for those times, who has written them? We know they were done under the supervision of Sri Annamacharya's grandson. We are fortunate Indeed!

Bhandagaram - An Invaluable Treasure

Sri Annamacharya's Sankeertanas were inscribed on copper plates [Supposedly under the supervision of his son] and stored in the small store room now called Annamacharya Bhandagaram. This is a exactly opposite to the main Hundi in the Tirumala temple, and can be identified by the carvings of Sri Annamacharya on either side of the small wodden door, with his one hand raised in the direction of the door. One wonders if these carvings were also done when the Raagi Rekulu [Copper plates] were hidden in this place, probably to pictorially convey what treasure it holds for future generations.

We may never know why they were hidden or why not all of the 32,000 Sankeertanas have been found, they have been kept safe for hundreds of years only to be found during 1920's and propogated throughout the world now - why were they not found some 200 or 300 years ago? If they were infact found before our time then the chance of their survival would have been very low, aplty found in this information age it all seems as though Sri Annamacharya has not been born to gift his gems to people of his generation but to people of the 20th century and onwards. What's and Why's aside, for now let us rejoice that by the Will of Lord of Seven Hills we are indeed blessed.
